Ooey Gooey Pizza Dip

Ooey Gooey Pizza Dip

Ooey, gooey, cheesy–and easy! This slimmed down dip is just crazy good. Not only can you whip up this decadent tasting dip in mere minutes, it’s packed with belly-filling protein and calcium too. In fact, when compared to the full-fat version you get double the protein with just 1/2 the fat, saturated fat, and points!

It can also be a tasty way to eat more veggies. Simply add sautéed mushrooms or diced green peppers between the sauce and cheese for an extra boost of fiber and vitamins, or serve it with thick cuts of zucchini and sweet bell in addition to thin slices of bread or pita chips for extra healthy dipping. Feel free to scatter on other favorite pizza toppings such as turkey pepperoni – a family favorite – between the mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses before baking.

Makes 10 servings

½ cup light cream cheese
½ cup nonfat sour cream
¾ teaspoon dried oregano
½ cup pizza sauce
1 cup shredded part-skim mozzarella cheese
½ cup grated Parmesan cheese

1. Preheat the oven to 350°F. In a small bowl, combine cream cheese, sour cream, and oregano. Stir until smooth.

2. Spread evenly into a 9-inch pie pan. Top with pizza sauce and then mozzarella cheese. Sprinkle on the Parmesan cheese and bake for 15 minutes or until cheese is melted.

Marlene Says: Calci-yum! A single serving of this protein-rich cheesy dip delivers 20% of the daily recommended allowance for calcium.
